The details below are general information for all students in year 11. The resources and suggested activities are for independent revision. Class teachers will set students specific revision activities for students to undertake as homework in the build up to the exam period. Independent revision should complement, but not replace, the time spent on homework.

What do I have to do for each examination?

English Literature Paper 1: Shakespeare and the 19th Century Novel

- One whole text question, based on passage

Section B – 19th Century Novel

- One passage based question

- One whole text question, linking the passage to the rest of the play

English Literature Paper 2: Modern Texts and Poetry

Section A – A Modern Prose or Drama text

- One question about the whole play

Section B – Poetry

- One question comparing two poems from the anthology

Section C – Unseen text

- Two questions on one unseen poem

English Language Paper 1: Explorations in Creative Reading and Writing

Section A – Reading

- One literature fiction texts

- Four questions based on the text

Section B – Writing

- Descriptive or narrative writing

English Language Paper 2: Writers Viewpoints and Perspectives

Section A – Reading

- One literary texts and one literary non-fiction text

- Four questions based on texts

Section B – Writing

- To present a viewpoint
